How to Make Deep Dish Protein Pizza Quiche

Pizza Quiche
Pizza Quiche

Pizza quiche fortified with protein.

How can you go wrong?

Pizza is so good. I don’t care who you are or what kind of diet you are on, right now you want to eat pizza. I do too. That’s why I am showing you today, a super-tight recipe for protein fortified deep dish pizza quiche.

There is a ton of protein in this recipe and quite a bit of fat if you choose to use the original ingredients. I have suggested ways to eliminate fat by substituting lower fat versions of cream (milk), eggs, cream cheese, and cheese. You can use the full fat versions for a fattier, tastier, greasier pizza quiche.

You are encouraged to experiment with toppings as well. Meat and vegetables are great toppings for pizza quiche!

Erwan Le Corre
Erwan Le Corre

I recently read a couple articles about a type of training called MovNat, derived from something called Methode Naturelle. As a training philosophy based on functionality, I found it to be a breath of fresh air.

This, along with some of the principles of CrossFit, odd object training, and strongman training, comprise the recent direction of my training focus. I still primarily lift weights, but this is the type of fitness that is really starting to interest me.

Being able to jump, climb, throw, run, defend, lift, and swim, really makes you feel good about yourself, and this type of functional training is what MovNat is all about.

Do Black Americans Receive Equality in Health Care?

Black Doctor
Black Doctor

Different studies have been focusing on how racism has affected the health industry in the United States all over the years.

Will this term, under President Barack Obama pose positive changes, given that he is the first black president?

We have to remember American history to examine the trends of racism and how it affected the health industry of the United States.

The United States Census Bureau and the Federal Office of Management and Budget, define race as self-identification of a person or group of persons as a result of physical characteristics, geographic location and ancestry. Race has been used interchangeably with ethnicity, which refers to a larger categorization which includes the language, diet, religion and political factors.

How to Squat with Bad Knees, to Fix Bad Knees, and to Avoid Bad Knees

SQUAT
SQUAT

At one point someone asked me a question about squatting with bad knees. I knew a little bit about it, but I wanted to get more professional opinions before I wrote a full response.

I have compiled the results here and would like you to also read the resources listed at the bottom of this post for more information.

Much of this information was comprised from articles written by Dr. Fred Hatfield (aka Dr. Squat) and from the training certification guide from the ISSA.

Squats are both difficult to defend and difficult to disparage. There are pros and cons to both sides. Let’s examine the facts.

I get plenty of questions in various comments throughout the website, but I also get comments and questions via the Project Swole Contact Form.

Generally I address those questions through e-mail, but often I do not have the time to reply to each and every question personally.

From now on I want to take a more proactive approach to answering Your Health Questions by posting them separately in the blog. This way we can be sure that everyone benefits from the Q & A.

“I know you don’t approve of an “arms” day, but I’ve always had more trouble adding mass and strength to my arms, as opposed to my torso.

I started including an arms day into my routine for the past 4 or 5 weeks in an effort to combat my naturally scrawny arms. I’ve seen definite progress with my triceps, but no matter what I do, I can’t seem to improve my biceps.

I do several relevant compound exercises during the rest of the week (chin-ups, bent-over barbell rows, close-grip cable rows, etc.), in addition to my arms workout.

Any thoughts or suggestions? FYI: I’m 6’0, 165 pounds. Thanks!”

Deadlifts

I lift heavy.

Well, heavy for me at least.

Sometimes my grip strength doesn’t always allow me to lift a maximal weight for certain exercises. Typically this might happen with an exercise where I try to use more than my max deadlift or if I’m hauling around 150 lb dumbbells.

In these circumstances, I have to employ one of the following third party tools to help me hold onto the bar.

Zero Calorie Sobe Lifewater

Posted March 8, 2009 in Product Reviews 67 Comments »

Water is so good for you that you should be drinking at least 64 ounces a day. But try as we may, sometimes water gets boring and the 64 ounces don’t always make it down the hatch.

Sobe Lizard

Some of us turn to diet soda, some turn to coffee, while others turn to Crystal Lite or other 0 calorie drink mixes.

Relative to living a healthy lifestyle, those products are good in some ways and bad in some ways. Diet soda and Crystal Lite have nasty sweeteners and dyes. Coffee has caffeine and turns your teeth brown.

The point is to find a tasty 0 calorie beverage with added vitamins and minerals that not only tastes good but also has additional benefits. If you are interested you should read my review below.

The Truth About Fasting to Lose Weight

Posted March 6, 2009 in Diet, Healthy Lifestyle 28 Comments »
Update: I wrote this article with regards to fasting for 24 hours or longer. I did not intend to address intermittent fasting with this post. Since I wrote this, I have learned about intermittent fasting and fully support it as a fat loss strategy. I still don’t support fasting for more than 24 hours though. 1/4/2011
Fasting
Fasting

What is fasting?

Fasting is when you don’t eat anything at all for a prolonged period of time. I’m betting you have heard of “breakfast”? This is a meal that essentially breaks your overnight fast.

Is it healthy to fast overnight?

Your overnight fast isn’t that bad. Some hardcore individuals do set an alarm clock to wake up 4 hours into their sleep cycle in order to swill down a protein shake. I have actually done this before, except that I planned it out as follows:
