girl doing exercise for addiction recovery

Looking to give your addiction recovery a good boost? Recovering addicts should not ignore the positive benefits of exercise for addiction recovery. Exercise has an impact on just about every aspect of our lives: from our mood, self-image, and even energy levels.

This COVID pandemic lockdown of 2021 (and now 2022) did nothing to help addicts and it definitely helped a bunch of folks slip into a habit of addition. If you’re one of them, and you’ve been struggling to keep the pounds off and avoid relapse, it’s time to hit the gym.

Addiction is all about control: the loss of it, the hunger for it and finally getting back in control after beating your body’s dependency on substances or behavior. How Much Fat Should I Eat in a Day?

Thursday, January 13th, 2022
How Much Fat Should I Eat

Almost all nutritious food has fat in it. Fats are used for a variety of purposes including transporting vital nutrients to cells, assisting in the digestion of certain foods, and providing us with energy in times of nutrient depletion. To be healthy you can’t, and shouldn’t, stay away from fat. Still, we find ourselves asking: how much fat should I eat in a day? What are the pros and cons of eating low-fat or fat-free? What kind of fat should I be eating most? Which foods provide healthy fats and which foods will kill me quickly?

As with my other articles how many carbs to eat in a day and how much protein to eat in a day, all depends on a couple of factors:

Butter
  • current bodyweight
  • dietary goals
  • cholesterol profile
  • activity level
  • lifestyle
  • time of day

The American Heart Association recommends limiting dietary fat to 30% of total calories. Take into consideration, however, if you are overweight, need to lower blood cholesterol, or have another medical concern, you may need less than the recommended 30%.

Let’s stop to consider all of the factors that go into determining how much fat we should eat.

Benefits of Working Out from Home – A Beginner’s Guide

Tuesday, October 26th, 2021
Working Out from Home

Exercise is key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. But it can be hard to find the time and motivation to go to a gym or fitness studio, especially if you’re not very good at socializing. Luckily, there are many benefits that come with working out at home. Let’s unpack what we mean by “working out from home.”

It doesn’t matter how old you are – your exercise routine should always include some form of physical activity such as walking or running (or even doing crunches) for at least 20 minutes per day. If this seems like too much work, think about all the things you could do during those 20 minutes! You could walk laps around your block, jog through your neighborhood, or even do squats and lunges in your living room. If you’re feeling motivated enough, you could create an entire workout routine using either online video exercises or checking out this article for some workout ideas.

Self-Care for Nurses: How to Stay Fit With a Busy Job

Self-Care for Nurses

It’s no secret that nursing is a career choice that can get very demanding and taxing on a person, both physically and emotionally. Nurses would mostly agree that the reward and satisfaction they get from their jobs make all the hard work worth it. However, there’s no denying that nurses are often in positions where they are under a lot of pressure at work, with patients’ lives sometimes riding on the decisions that they make. This sometimes makes self-care for nurses an afterthought, but it shouldn’t be!

Working as a nurse often means spending most days at work in a very high-stress environment, meaning that along with having the necessary knowledge, education, and work experience to do their jobs well, nurses also need to be dedicated to looking after themselves and keeping themselves strong and healthy both mentally and physically. If you are currently in nursing school, there’s no better time to get started with self-care.
