Powerzone Fitness: The Best Gym in New Hampshire

Monday, July 11th, 2011

I finally joined a gym that’s worth blogging about. It is called Powerzone Fitness and it’s located in Hooksett, NH.

Check out their website here: Powerzone Fitness and their Yahoo Local page with a 5 star rating and 4 glorious reviews here: Powerzone in Hooksett, NH

Why is Powerzone Fitness the best gym in NH?

  • It is open 24×7. You get in after hours with an access card.
  • No one is ever there. Turn the lights and fans on, crank your own music on the radio.
  • No crazy meat heads taking up all the machines. It’s like the opposite of Gold’s Gym in Manchester, NH. If you ever go there you’ll know what I mean.
  • It is owned by a former powerlifter. That means you can deadlift, lift over your head, and grunt without getting in trouble.
  • They supply the chalk. Like using chalk when you deadlift or do Olympic lifts? They have a box of chalk beside the power rack.
  • The have a power rack. They have a smith machine too, but they only use it for shrugs.
  • Dumbbells up to 120 lbs. Not bad.
  • They have a reverse hyper machine! It’s old, but it works.
  • Training at Powerzone is like working out in your own personal basement gym, except they actually have all the equipment you could need.

Gymnastics Training is Tough but it Won’t Turn You Into a Bodybuilder

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Someone, I think in the forums or maybe in a comment to another post, asked earlier today why gymnasts are so muscular even though they don’t lift weights, and if starting gymnastics training would be a good idea for him to gain muscle.

Regarding the question “why are gymnasts so muscular?” I direct your attention to the following video, which captures mere school girls training for gymnastics. Observe the 5 million jumps, flips, hand stands, band training, and sprinting. Even when you use only bodyweight for these exercises, the power and repetitions over time are going to build really strong muscles – in the core, arms, legs, everywhere.

You even have an alarm set to go off every 3 hours to remind you to eat a snack or drink a protein shake. You’ve got anywhere from 10-20 weeks to reach your target body fat, but you know full well that cheating can be disastrous.

You know from experience that after 2 weeks your body is going to demand that you feed it some of your favorite tasty treats. But this time is going to be different. The Arnold Schwarzenegger Protein Shake

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

Arnold Schwarzenegger was a tank. He instinctively knew how to eat and how to train. His philosophy on whole food meals and snacks are accepted today as the best way to construct a weight gain diet, a fat loss diet, or even a regular healthy diet for a non-athlete. The famous Arnold Schwarzenegger protein shake will be sure to put muscle on anyone’s back.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

From the earliest reports on his nutritional theories, Arnold believed that the average person needs a half of a gram of protein per pound of bodyweight per day, and that a bodybuilder needs at least one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight each day. However, he did not recommend drinking 4 glasses of protein powder mixed with water to get all of that protein, and neither do I.
