You just signed up for your first fitness boot camp. Congrats! You’re on your way to a better, stronger, and healthier you. You’re new to HIIT training and group fitness. You want to slay your workouts, but you’re nervous, and you’re not sure you can keep up with the rest of the class. Did you know that your pre-exercise routine is just as important as your workouts? Here are some boot camp tips for getting your body ready to work hard and accomplish those big fitness goals.

Drink Water All Day, Everyday

Many people think as long as they carry a water bottle along with them to the gym, they’ll be plenty hydrated to get through the session. That’s simply not true. Consider everything you consume throughout the day, from your morning two cups of coffee to your afternoon energy drink and the two to four glasses of wine you have with supper. How much of that is actually hydrating your body? Almost none! In fact, much of what you drink is dehydrating you and leaving harmful toxins in your body, especially caffeine and alcohol.

To enhance your performance during fitness, as well as all other areas of your daily life, just drink more water. You can still enjoy those other beverages in moderation, but set an alarm on your phone if you need to and prioritize your water intake all day, every day. Your body will thank you for it.

Supplement Your Nutrition

Balancing your diet and exercise routine is a science that takes time to sort out because it’s based solely on your body. Because of your new commitment to fitness, your nutrition requirements are about to change, maybe even drastically. This can be a difficult hill to climb, so it’s important to reevaluate your needs frequently and make the changes that get you the results you want.

Consider giving yourself a boost for those days you feel sluggish, or add a daily regimen that supports your overall health. Check out these Le-Vel Thrive reviews to learn about how supplements enhance your nutrition plan and help you power up before, during and after intense training sessions.

Find Motivation

Part of getting ready to work out is preparing your mind. This is actually one of the most important boot camp tips we can think of. Though you want those etched abs and you’ve already paid for six weeks’ worth of sessions, your mentality has to be right or you’ll talk yourself out of going every single time. There will always be something else that needs to get done, whether it’s work, school or the dirty dishes in the sink.

Let it all go, because you need this! Add an upbeat playlist to your phone and listen to it on the way to the gym and during your workout, letting the music pump you up as you move through each exercise, giving it your all. By the end of your session, you’ll be impressed with your performance and extremely happy you didn’t skip it.

Eat Something, But Not Too Much

Yikes! Your session starts in 30 minutes and you haven’t had breakfast yet. What should you do? Eating before boot camp is important because you need the fuel to get you through the intensity of your workout. However, if you eat too much, you could find yourself too tired to move because your body is using your energy to digest a big meal. Even worse, you could cause yourself to vomit mid-burpee.

To avoid this, schedule a meal or snack one or two hours before class starts. Consume something high in protein for muscle support, and a few carbs for the extra oomph to sustain you through the hill sprints. Go for something light, like a shake, salad, or granola bar, and don’t drive through Taco Bell on your way to the gym.

When you prepare your mind and body ahead of time with these boot camp tips, your HIIT boot camp will not only leave you feeling stronger and leaner but also more confident and ready to take on the world.
