Activities To Relieve Stress

Whether we like it or not, stress is a huge problem in today’s world.  It could be that you are having problems in the workplace, personal issues – or even money issues that can result in you feeling stressed or anxious.  We have collated a list of activities to relieve stress that can hopefully put you well on your way to a stress-free life.

Yoga

Yoga is an incredibly serene activity.  As well as having great physical health benefits such as increased flexibility and stamina, it also has many mental health benefits.  Due to the nature of the exercise – when you end a yoga session, the idea is that you feel more energized than you did when you began – which isn’t typical of other exercises. It’s a great initiation to practicing mindfulness and creating a better sense of focus.

Meditation

Meditation is a great way to help you understand how your mind works.  By using meditation, your mind will become calmer – and actually, you will find more time to accomplish more tasks than you did before due to your improved mindset, thanks to your activities to relieve stress and improve your lifestyle.

To start things off, you may want to try a simple breathing meditation. This is where you choose a place to sit that’s quiet, where you won’t be disturbed.  Then you sit in a comfortable position. You can then close your eyes partially, and breath naturally excluding the outside world. Concentrate only on breathing, and eventually, it will be easier to focus, and you should get a feeling of inner peace.

Kayaking

Although a physical sport, kayaking can be a great stress-reliever and calm the mind.  You are on a lake or a river and seeing sights that you have never seen before. You can explore different areas that you wouldn’t be able to normally – all the while enjoying the scenery of the lakeside.

As well as an exercise to relieve stress, it’s also an enjoyable hobby and as stated in this article, you can easily transport an inflatable kayak in a backpack and visit different kayaking destinations regularly. Try to avoid getting a kayak that’s going to be too difficult to carry around on your trip and opt for an inflatable one instead.

Listening to Music

We all know that listening to music can release certain emotions.  You can end up feeling uplifted, or even melancholy depending on the mood you are in.  If you are trying to reduce stress levels, the right music can help. There are some fantastic Spotify playlists out there that you can try out as part of a stress management strategy. You could find that your blood pressure is reduced, and your mind and body become more relaxed.

Organize Yourself

If you are disorganized, this can cause unnecessary stress in itself.  A good idea would be to create checklists – and tick off tasks as you go.  That way you are less likely to feel overwhelmed and will be able to see that there is some progression on what can feel initially like a never-ending list.

Final Thoughts

If you are looking to decrease your stress levels, these are some activities to relieve stress that you can try.  Once you have a calm mind, you can lead a much happier, reduced-stress life. Let me know in the comments if you have any other amazing stress relief strategies that don’t involve drugs and alcohol.

One Response to “5 Activities To Relieve Stress”

  1. Great blog! If you can’t find more than 1 minute to relieve stress in your life and only up 10 minutes total. That’s truly scary. Staying active in activities that you like such as biking, climbing, knitting, or what ever else you like I would think would be the best stress relief. Sitting in a room and imagining things for 10 minutes is not what I would consider a adequate way to relieve stress. Keeping your mind and body physically busy in doing something that you love and enjoy has to be one of the best ways to relieve stress. thank you for sharing this article
