To Drink Or Not to Drink?

The advantages and risks of drinking coffee remain the topic of much debate. I’m not saying that you should start drinking 5 cups of coffee a day if you don’t already drink coffee. But clearly you shouldn’t feel so bad if you DO drink several cups a day.

    Are you serious? I would have taken you seriously, until you suggested that it (coffee) “acidifies the blood”…

    …now THAT is some new age pseudoscience mumbo jumbo, is it not? Is this something unique to coffee or does it happen with any caffeinated food/drink? The PH of the blood is not directly affected by what you eat… at least as far as I am aware…. I think you need to chill out about coffee a little. There certainly are benefits to moderate coffee/caffeine intake. Maybe not for everyone, but for many.

    There are absolutely negative side effects to drinking coffee. I compare drinking coffee to drinking wine. If you drink one glass a day, it’s great for you. If you drink two or three glasses a day you’ll become a fat alcoholic.

    Same thing applies with coffee. Drink 1 cup a day and you benefit from the good points. Drink 2 or 3 cups and you risk dehydration, acidity, and the jitters from CNS over-activation. (Don’t forget brown teeth.)

    As with all foods and drinks, moderation is the key.

The notion that drinking coffee is healthy is absolutely ridiculous, and it is a shame that a certified personal trainer would try to justify it by referring to just a few out of thousands of studies on caffeine. It is a central nervous system stimulant. It constricts the blood vessels, stresses the heart, blocks neurotrasmitter uptake, dehydrates the blood and skin, upsets digestion, acidifies the blood – should I go on? Everyone wants it to be good for them, simply because they are addicted. Wake up people!!!
