Continued Vigilance Against Sex Offenders in Hooksett, NH

Posted September 24, 2009 in Healthy Lifestyle, Kids 3 Comments »

As an update to my post that pedophiles should run for the hills, I wanted to share the recent developments in this story. Why do I continue to post about this in my health and fitness blog? Because I can, and because the world needs to know.

Sexual abuse, child abuse, child molestation, and pedophilia has absolutely NOTHING to do with being Swole, but fighting for the safety of our children certainly does!

I promise I will get back to posting about health and fitness very soon… I am working on a post about static stretching as you read this. But I digress…

The Town Council Meeting

The town council meeting last night went very well. We did not have the turn-out we had hoped, but our point was conveyed very well by those who showed up, and the police captain offered as much information into the case as he was allowed. It seems that the council members are on board with our efforts to protect the children of NH.

This movement is reaching beyond the prosecution of Joel Dutton. We are hoping to put into place some ordinances that will help to protect our children. Registered sex offenders from all over New England are moving to NH because restrictions against them are so lenient. Why would anyone want that?

I do not wish to drive sex offenders who are living in NH, out of NH. That would be naive. I merely wish to protect our kids from registered offenders who already live here, and discourage registered offenders from moving to NH specifically because state laws make life easier for them.

Today’s News Headlines

Here is a link to today’s Union Leader article: Hooksett parents seek crackdown on sex offenders

Here is my comment on this article, which doesn’t seem like it is going to be posted:

I am “Scott Hansen” from this article… yeah they got my name wrong… and let me tell you, driving a registered sex offender out of your neighborhood is no easy task. It’s not like we can stand outside Joel’s door and picket all day long… the police would make us leave. We can make his life difficult within reason, but these criminals have far too many rights.

One point that I want to drive home is that this is not all about Joel Dutton. Yeah, he’s a horrible person but if the system works even to any small degree, he will be punished this time (although I have little faith in the system).

In any case, the bigger picture is more important, and it is this: residents of every town, in every state, should know specific details about all sex offenders in their area, especially those convicted of an offense against anyone under the age of 13.

When I moved to Hooksett 2 years ago, I was not vigilant against sex offenders. Molestation had not been a part of my life… I did not know to check the national registry before I bought my property, and no one told me otherwise… not the real estate agent, the previous owners, or the neighbors.

We need to implement a process to better inform residents of offenders in their area. Whether that comes in the form of detailed letters sent home to parents from the school system, or notices sent annually from the town or state to all its residents… I’m not sure what the best solution is yet, but we are working on it.

Another important note is that the town of Hooksett has no ordinances against registered offenders. In fact, the entire state of NH is so lenient towards registered offenders, that they often move to NH from surrounding states in order to avoid publicity and restrictions!

You might say they have the right to privacy… I know the ACLU does… but I say to you that they should have no rights! Pedophiles are sexually attracted to children the way heterosexuals are attracted to the opposite sex and homosexuals are attracted to the same sex. They are sick and can rarely be rehabilitated. If they claim to be rehabilitated it is because they don’t want to spend the rest of their life in jail, or worse.

Would a homosexual suddenly claim they are ‘rehabilitated’ and that they have switched to the opposite sex just because some ignorant fools say they are wrong? No, they wouldn’t, and if they did, it would be a lie.

Neither homosexuals nor heterosexuals hurt other people with their sexual preference unless they are committing crimes like rape or battery, but when a pedophile engages in sex with his or her sexual preference it is ALWAYS a violation. Find me a child who willingly engaged in sexual acts with an adult, if you can. Sexually abused children are always scarred for life!

For those who are attracted to children and never act on it, I have nothing against them. For anyone whose will is not strong enough to prevent them from committing these atrocities just because they want to, I say they have no place in society, and based on past experience (just read the news) they will offend again.

In closing I would like to say that we will be working with state counselors on this issue, in order to ban together NH towns with the intention of implementing state-wide ordinances protecting children from exposure to registered sex offenders. We are also going to work towards passing a bill that eliminates the statute of limitations for child abuse victims to prosecute their perpetrators.

Residents of NH, take a stand with us. Support our efforts to help protect our children and maybe, just maybe, another 7 year old little girl will escape abuse by the hands of derelicts like Joel Dutton.

Here is my response to some of the comments on that article, from people who think we are whining and complaining too much:

For those of you who think we are complaining too much, who think we should move, who think we are giving Joel Dutton a hard time, I am willing to bet that you have never been or know a victim of childhood sexual abuse.

I knew within a couple months of moving 2 houses away from Joel, that he was a registered offender. To be honest, I didn’t care at that point… he was not hurting anyway and I was doing what I need to do to protect my kids.

When a family with 3 children moved in with him, is when I started to become worried… not for myself or my family, but for those kids. The next thing I know, the little girl is telling neighbors that Joel made her sit on his lap, tickled her, and “his pants got sticky and wet”. I had the wonderful pleasure of walking into my backyard to see Joel tickling this little girl, with her trying to push him away while not laughing in the least. I won’t get into the other events that transpired, which led me to believe that those kids were in an extremely unhealthy environment. It was not good.

Calls were placed to social services and when they interviewed Joel he admitted to touching the girl inappropriately. How does that make us whiners and complainers? Most of us were initially only interested in protecting those 3 kids, and we somewhat succeeded.

Going forward we are interested in putting into place ordinances that will discourage registered sex offenders from moving to NH. Currently they are moving to NH from surrounding states because the laws here are so much more lenient with their restrictions. I don’t specifically want them to move out of NH, I just don’t want them to continue moving into NH. A lifetime in jail would be best, but we all know that is not going to happen.

So, for those of you who continue to insist that we whine and complain too much, think about how you would feel if a registered sex offender in your neighborhood molested your son or daughter. Right.

  1. Thank you for continuing to update your site on this problem. It truly shows that you are “swole” when you stand up for your rights and the rights of those who can’t stand up for themselves. You show true restraint by not beating the tar out of this lowlife.

    • Update: This whole family of ‘lowlifes’ are now threatening people in the neighborhood, claiming slander, which brings about 2 new issues.

      1) It’s not slander if it’s true.
      2) It’s a felony to threaten someone who has given a statement to the authorities.

This is an incestuous family of whack-jobs and psychopaths, and it makes me feel good to know they are going down. Rumor has it that Mr. Dutton is going to be spending at least a little bit of time in jail for his current allegations, and other members of the family look to be in trouble for threatening witnesses. Maybe I won’t have to sell my house right away after all.

  2. Well brother i was searching blog for building muscle but you information about child abuse is very impressive and informative.
You are right who can’t control they have no space in our society.
    Thanks for sharing it.
