Tips For Meeting Women At The Gym

At Project Swole we don’t recommend actually using the gym to meet women. Most women who are training are there for a purpose, and that purpose is not to listen to your pathetic one-liners between reps. That being said, if you insist on trying to meet women at the gym, here at least are some tips to hopefully avoid getting your head smashed between two 45 lb plates by that Wonder Woman in the squat rack.

The gym is more than just a place to get a good workout – it is also potentially, a place to meet women. People who exercise regularly take pride in their appearance, meaning that most gyms are filled with attractive women. Even though trying to talk to a woman that you don’t know can be a bit intimidating, it is a lot easier than you might think.

Act Confidently

No matter where you are, confidence is important when it comes to meeting women. At the gym, however, it is especially important. Most men put on a confident front when working out, even if they don’t feel it. To avoid coming across as meek or shy when you walk up to a woman for the first time, act as self-assured as possible. Confident people put others at ease, which means the woman you are talking to will naturally relax during your conversation.

Use Humor To Break The Ice

Making a joke is a good way to start a conversation with a woman. Laughing together will naturally put both of you at ease and can build an instant bond. If she is chuckling at something that you said, she is less likely to feel nervous about someone she doesn’t know talking to her at the gym. After all, most people go to the gym to work out – not to socialize with others.

Choose The Right Time To Approach

Meeting women at the gym is all about timing. Don’t walk up to her when she is trying to catch her breath after sprinting on the treadmill or lifting heavy weights. Instead, wait for the right moment. Remember – you don’t need a lot of time to make an impression. In fact, it is best to keep your interaction short so that you don’t overwhelm her. Ideally, you should watch for a moment when she is between exercises. Then, start a lighthearted conversation with a joke, talk back and forth for a couple of minutes, and finish by asking her for her phone number. That’s all there is to it.

Avoid Physical Compliments

Complimenting her is fine. Just make sure that they don’t involve her physique. Most women are a little bit sensitive about their bodies – particularly when working out at the gym. Instead of focusing on her appearance, find something else that you like about her. For instance, you could tell her that she seems like a really interesting person. This is a better approach than telling her that she’s good-looking or that she has an amazing body. If you are talking to her, she probably has already guessed that you are attracted to her. Instead of focusing on that, find something else about her personality to compliment her on.

Keep It Quick And Ask For Her Phone Number

The gym isn’t a place for long, involved conversations. Instead, you should keep things short, doing your best to get her number right away. After a little bit of friendly banter, let her know that you would like to meet up with her again. Have your phone ready so that you can grab her number. Once you get her number, send her a quick text message so she has your number as well. To keep things simple, try approaching her when you are on your way out of the gym.
