FDA Forces Recall of 65 Supplements that Allegedly Contain Steroids

Here we go again.

Bodybuilding.com has initiated an international recall of 65 dietary supplements that the FDA insists probably contain steroids.

Since they would probably get in some kind of legal trouble down the road, the popular bodybuilding website pretty much has to cooperate, so they have recalled all lots and expiration dates related to the 65 supplements flagged on the FDA’s list. Click here to see the list.

The FDA claims that the products on its list could contain some of the following substances:

This just in: The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), on Tuesday warned the public not to use bodybuilding supplements advertised as steroids, or claiming to contain steroids or steroid-like substances.

Thanks for the warning FDA, but please stop telling me what supplements to buy or not to buy.

The FDA recently sent a letter to American Cellular Laboratories Inc., alleging that some of the supplement manufacturer’s products, which are sold as dietary supplements, violate the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act because they do not meet the FDA’s definition of a dietary supplement.

To be considered a dietary supplement, a product has to contain one or more dietary ingredients, such as herbs, vitamins, minerals, or amino acids, which some of American Cellular Laboratories products do not.

In fact, the FDA alleges that many of the products are sold as dietary supplements, but are actually unapproved and misbranded drugs. Let’s see which products are targeted by the probe.

Manny Ramirez Uses hCG, Has Elevated Testosterone, Gets Suspended for 50 Games

Manny Ramirez, former Boston Red Sock, current LA Dodger, and president of the D-bag Hall of Fame is at it again. This time the guy gets suspended for 50 games for testing positive for human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a female fertility drug. He was also found to have artificial elevated levels of testosterone in his bloodstream.

What is the significance of hCG?

Specifically, hCG is often used in post cycle therapy (PCT) when cycling off the juice. It basically helps to restore and maintain testosterone production, which is also useful for combating impotence (eg. hCG helps men who can’t ‘get it up’).
