Whether we like it or not, stress is a huge problem in today’s world.  It could be that you are having problems in the workplace, personal issues – or even money issues that can result in you feeling stressed or anxious.  We have collated a list of activities that can hopefully put you well on your way to a stress-free life.

Yoga

Yoga is an incredibly serene activity.  As well as having great physical health benefits such as increased flexibility and stamina, it also has many mental health benefits.  Due to the nature of the exercise – when you end a yoga session, the idea is that you feel more energized than you did when you began – which isn’t typical of other exercises. It’s a great initiation to practicing mindfulness and creating a better sense of focus.

Meditation

Meditation is a great way to help you understand how your mind works.  By using meditation, your mind will become calmer – and actually, you will find more time to accomplish more activities than you did before due to your improved mindset.  To start things off, you may want to try a simple breathing meditation. This is where you choose a place to sit that’s quiet, where you won’t be disturbed.  Then you sit in a comfortable position. You can then close your eyes partially, and breath naturally excluding the outside world. Concentrate only on breathing, and eventually, it will be easier to focus, and you should get a feeling of inner peace.

Kayaking

Although a physical sport, kayaking can be a great stress-reliever and calm the mind.  You are on a lake or a river and seeing sights that you have never seen before. You can explore different areas that you wouldn’t be able to normally – all the while enjoying the scenery of the lakeside.  As well as an exercise to relieve stress, it’s also an enjoyable hobby and as stated in this article, you can easily transport an inflatable kayak in a backpack and visit different kayaking destinations regularly. Try to avoid getting a kayak that’s going to be too difficult to carry around on your trip and opt for an inflatable one instead.

Listening to Music

We all know that listening to music can release certain emotions.  You can end up feeling uplifted, or even melancholy dependent on the mood you are in.  If you are trying to reduce stress levels, the right music can help. There are some fantastic Spotify playlists out there that you can try out as part of a stress management strategy. You could find that your blood pressure is reduced, and your mind and body become more relaxed.

Organise Yourself

If you are disorganized, this can cause unnecessary stress in itself.  A good idea would be to create checklists – and tick off tasks as you go.  That way you are less likely to feel overwhelmed and will be able to see that there is some progression on what can feel initially like a never-ending list.

If you are looking to decrease your stress levels, these are some activities that you can try.  Once you have a calm mind, you can lead a much happier life.
