How to Increase Productivity

I know some of you out there work 60, 70, 80 hour weeks. I know some of you also work 14,16,18 hour days. Hell, I’ve put in 36 hours straight writing computer code day and night to meet a deadline before. We all do it: we work too much!

Experts are finding out now that the best way to increase productivity, is to work less. That’s right, people who work 35-40 hours a week get the most out of their time. After the first 40 hours efficiency, speed, and quality all begin to deteriorate.

Companies that limit their employees’ working hours to 35 a week, typically have to employ less Quality Assurance (QA) testers, because their employees make far fewer mistakes. That is a multi-directional savings plan – save your employees health and save money by getting rid of half your QA staff (or just don’t hire them to begin with).

Do Not Use Dr. Mostafa El Sherif as Your Dentist

Monday, July 26th, 2010
Dentist
Dentist

Here is my review of a local dentist from Concord, NH. Dr. Mostafa El Sherif is one of the few dentists in the area to specialize in cosmetic dentistry. He does lots of work on teeth whitening, bridges, implants, caps, veneers, etc… Too bad he’s rude, uncompassionate, and greedy.

Why to Avoid Dr. Mostafa El-Sherif

Dr. Mostafa El-Sherif is a scumbag. All he cares about is the almighty dollar. Let me tell you about a situation wherein Sally, we will call her Sally, had a loose veneer on her front tooth. It started to become so loose that after a while that it would fall out randomly while talking or walking and it caused her great stress while eating.

On the first visit, all Sally wanted was for Dr. El-Sherif to cement the tooth back onto its post while she saved up to pay for a full implant. Dr. El-Sherif refused, saying instead that it would be cheaper, easier, and better for everyone if she could just come back with the money to replace BOTH of her front teeth. Since the second tooth was also a veneer, he wanted to take both teeth out (extractions) and replace them with implants for well-over $10,000. He wouldn’t do a thing for her without that money up front.

Now, Sally has no dental insurance and she sure as hell doesn’t have $10k sitting in the bank. El-Sherif would not help her at all. Instead he left everything alone and refused to do any work until she could come up with the payment in full. All she wanted was to have the veneer cemented back onto the post so that it wouldn’t constantly bug her until she could save up for the implant.

July Swole Updates – Looking for Forum Moderators

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Sorry to all Project Swole readers who are waiting to have their comments or emails answered. Sorry also for not posting in about a week. I am swamped, but have about 10 posts in the works.

Soon I will be starting a forum to deal with all these questions so that Swole Readers can also help each other. I will be looking for moderators to help moderate the forum and answer questions. Do I have any volunteers?

More soon…

Project Swole Redesign

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Hello everyone.

Please bare with me as I roll out the new design and functionality for Project Swole. There will be bugs and glitches, but I promise they will get worked out.

Please let me know what you like or dislike about the new layout, and if you discover anything broken, strange, or unexpected.

You will find most of the site navigation that used to be on the sidebar, now up in drop down menus at the top of the screen.

Thank you for your patience. Some great new content will surely follow, as soon as I can perfect the site.

Best,

Steve

Very Busy

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Hi everyone. I have a LOT of stuff going on right now, including the redesign of Project Swole and the integration of some social community plugins. Because of my schedule and work load I’ve been unable to post good stuff in the last week, and I still have 31 comments that I need to approve and respond to, as well as some e-mails from you guys that I need to answer.

Let me update you on what we have coming up at Project Swole:

  1. The top 5 best neck exercises
  2. A guest post, product review, and free product giveaway for the GymBoss interval timer from GymBoss.
  3. A super simple 3 day workout routine involving only 6 compound exercises and ab training.
  4. A daily fat loss routine tentatively titled “Swole for Summer 2k10″
  5. Probably a Werewolf Training for Power with some new techniques for building speed and power, and ultimately strength.
  6. Maybe a Werewolf Training for fat loss, but will probably just focus on Swole for Summer
  7. Building out a Project Swole Facebook page that I hope will be useful: Project Swole on Facebook
  8. Still working on that Project Shred diet… gotta have it done for summer!
  9. Project Swole will be turning into more of a social community with the possibility of a forum if it’s not too much of a hassle to moderate
  10. Much more!

That’s all for today, as I have to get back to work, but stay tuned.

What do you want to see on Project Swole?

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Would you be interested to know that Project Swole will soon be undergoing a redesign? I’ve already expanded the layout to 1000 pixels where it was once only 800 pixels, but a whole new graphical layout is coming out shortly, and I’m thinking of installing the Social Networking plugin Mingle to let Project Swole readers connect with each other more easily. Project Swole 3.0 should be good.

Articles and Posts

I’ve received a ton of requests for new articles on Project Swole. Let me tell you what’s on my To Write List and you can add to it as you see fit by leaving me some comments.

I Have Been Hacked!

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

HackerIf anyone has been wondering why Project Swole has been randomly out of order over the last month, my primary server has been hacked.

I keep checking on the site to remove any offending code, and you are perfectly safe surfing, it’s just that every once in a while some malicious script overwrites the bottom portion of code on some of my files, causing a syntax error when your web browser tries to interpret the code.

I am still trying to get to the bottom of it, but everything should be cleaned up soon. Please don’t stop visiting. =)

I went on vacation for the 4th of July, so I haven’t posted in a couple days, but I am back now and a useful post will be coming soon.

Where Have I Been For Memorial Day Weekend 2009

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Looks like I haven’t posted in about a week now. That would be because:

  • I’ve been having great fun camping at White Lake State Park in Tamworth, NH.
  • My wireless Internet connection stinks so I’ve brought home the development PC sitting in the office that I never use anymore, so that I can hardwire it to the router.

Now that I am back online and back from camping, I anticipate posting again regularly until July 4th, when I will again go camping at White Lake State Park.

Upcoming Project Swole projects:

  • A 5×5 Minimal Effort Powerlifting routine based on some studies of old school training, Tony Robbins, and Pavel Tsatsouline. A spreadsheet will accompany the routine so you can plug in your numbers and print out your training log if you wish.
  • A 5×5 Speed-Strength Full Body routine, for those who feel limited by the 5×5 minimal effort powerlifting routine. The spreadsheet for this guy already exists, but I’m not offering it for download yet.
  • I still want to get out my Project Shred idea, but I haven’t had time to build it out the way I want. It will be a hardcore diet with meal equivalents that you can use to make up your own diet plan.
  • My fitness themed HealthRanker.com clone FitWire is live, but it doesn’t work the way I want and is not setup the way I want, so I am not ready to launch it yet. You can find it if you search for it, but I’m not ready to link to it or promote it yet.

Hopefully that stuff will be done soon. For now, just continue to lift and get Swole.

A Guest Post on Diets in Review

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Look, now I’m turning up in other places online!

Somehow dietsinreview.com gave me an opportunity to write a guest post. You can find it at How to Train Legs part 1.

I had originally written a 1500 word article for this, but ended up having to shorten it to 2, 500 word pieces. Now I know what it feels like when a Hollywood director is forced to cut 20 minutes off of his movie to be able to get his R rated movie down to a PG-13 rating.

Thanks to Diets in Review for giving me my first chance to write a unique guest post on a high profile website.

I also published a guest post from Heather Ashare of Diets in Review fame. You can find that post at Yoga for Men. Thanks Heather!

Reminder: CageFight MMA ‘Blunt Force Trauma’ This Saturday

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008
MMA Punch
MMA Punch

For those of you within 2 hours of Manchester, NH, there’s something fun and unique for you to do this Saturday night. Black and Blue Entertainment of Hooksett, NH presents their second ever Cage Fight Mixed Martial Arts event, which they are calling, “Blunt Force Trauma”.

The fights are put together by Roger Woo and Barbara Woo of Team Woo, an MMA team located in Hooksett, NH. The two of them alternate teaching my Thai Kickboxing class, and spend hours training and coaching the Team Woo fighters. Roger is also half owner of the previously mentioned Black and Blue Entertainment, which is organizing the event.

This is going to be a tight show. The first show went off with much praise and success, and this time there looks to be even more, higher quality match-ups. I would say 3/4 of the fighters last time had losing records; the winner of the main event was 4-15 coming into the fight. This time we will be watching some real competitors.

The current fight card looks like this (subject to change without prior notice):
